Combine a trade fair visit with vacation – that’s easy in the region of Chiemsee-Alpenland! Located only 70 kilometres from Munich, the holiday region is perfectly situated for fair visitors. The region offers short ways to the exhibition centres and a high value in terms of leisure before or after the fair visit. The highways A8 and A93, the federal road B304 and the railway lines Munich-Salzburg and Munich-Innsbruck ensure a fast and simple connection to the exhibition centres in Munich.

No matter where you are, you’ll find beautiful places everywhere in the Chiemsee-Alpenland. In every time of the year hikers enjoy themselves along our wonderful lakes and rivers, our hilly countryside as well as through the impressive mountains. You prefer enjoying the unique scenery of the nature on a bicycle? Around 2.000 kilometres of cycle paths are waiting to be discovered.

About 60 mountain pastures offer homemade delicacies just like bacon bread, Obatzda (a typical cheesy spread) and elder lemonade. You can find more culinary delights in the regional farm shops and farmer’s markets!

Naturally a visit of Chiemsee – the “Bavarian Sea” – with its two islands and the castle Herrenchiemsee is a must. Whether sportive activities, cultural highlights or culinary delights: the Chiemsee fascinates everyone!

In our charming cities and villages, you can find real Bavarian traditions and rites just like the famous “Maibaumaufstellen” (disposing of the May-tree) on May 1^st, rides in honour of St. Leonhard or “Kirtahutschn” (a sort of a big swing which is typical for the holiday of country fair). In 2019 about 30.000 “Trachtler” (a sort of members of associations for the preservation of traditional costumes) will come together for the “Trachtensommer”: three of those associations are preparing for the festivities - each of them with a varied festive program.
